India’s Abhishek Verma and Ojas Pravin Deotale will face off in the men’s individual compound final in the Asian Games 2023 archery competition in Hangzhou, the People’s Republic of China on Saturday.
Jyothi Surekha Vennam, meanwhile, will compete in the individual women’s compound archery gold medal match on the final day of the archery competition at the Asian Games 2023.
With three medals already assured for India, Aditi Swami has the opportunity to add one more to the tally when she steps onto the range for the women’s compound individual bronze medal match.
Abhishek Verma defeated South Korea’s Jaehoon Joo 147-145 in the semi-finals, while Ojas Pravin Deotale shot a perfect 150 against another Korean archer, Yang Jaewon, to make it to the gold medal match.
Ojas Pravin Deotale, the reigning world champion, received a bye in the opening round. He later defeated Ahmad Alshatti (Kuwait) and Chen Chieh-Lun (Chinese Taipei) in the elimination rounds before ousting Kazakhstan’s Akbarali Karabayev 150-142 in the quarter-finals.
Abhishek Verma, meanwhile, ousted Belal Ayman Alawadi (Saudi Arabia), Nguyen van Day (Vietnam) and Andrey Tyutyun (Kazakhstan) on his way to the semi-finals.
