State Archery Championships kicks off, NSA win 2 gold medals on Day 1 – The Sangai Express

IMPHAL, Oct 16 : The 35th Junior and 33rd Senior State Level Archery Championships kicked off today at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex under the aegis of Manipur Archery Association.
As many as 347 archers representing 20 units affiliated to the State archery association are taking part in the championships.
The opening day saw National Sports Academy seal two gold medals with S Sandhya and RK Wangthoisana finishing on top in the senior women’s and men’s individual Olympic round events.
S Sandhya amassed 6 points to seal the first gold for the unit as her compatriot K Suprina Thokchom (2 points) and KMAC’s Leiphrakpam Rojina (7 pts) finished second and third to settle for the silver and the bronze medals. Meanwhile in the men’s competition, Wangthoisana beat AAC’s Silheiba Leitanthem by 6-2 points in the final to seal the gold medal. YAC’s Keisham Borish bagged the bronze medal in the competition despite scoring an X to amass 5 points during the competition but failed to make it to the final.
