Lockdown lifted for three schools in southeast Charlotte following shooting in the area – WSOC TV

CHARLOTTE — A lockdown has been lifted for three schools in southeast Charlotte following a shooting in the area, according to officials with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.

Just before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, a woman was transported to Atrium Main with serious injuries following a shooting on Rama Road near Sheppard Court, according to MEDIC.

The shooting took place while students were being dropped off at schools in the area. This prompted Rama Road Elementary School, McClintock Middle School, and East Mecklenburg High School to go into lockdown, according to CMS.

Around 8:15 a.m., CMS announced that the lockdown had been lifted.

It is unclear what led up to the shooting or if any students were involved.

Parents told Channel 9 that they did not know the schools were on lockdown and did not receive any notifications from CMS. We have asked CMS if alerts were sent out to parents and are awaiting a response.
